I remain boggled by the success of Silver Linings Playbook. The script was almost as hollow as the acting. And yet, there was Jennifer Lawrence, "accidentally" tripping up the Academy Awards steps in full adorableness.
And yet Don Jon came and went, virtually unnoticed by the masses. And certainly by the Academy. But to me, Don Jon was the better version of Silver Linings Playbook. By no means perfect, it did reflect the fundamental tone of Silver Linings Playbook and then added a unique story, decent dialogue and characters who could connect.
I want to know less about one movie and more about another. I want to see if others agree with me, or not. Maybe if nothing else, I want someone to explain to me why Silver Linings Playbook might be better than I give it credit for.
