I was really disheartened when I heard Amy say they would NEVER do this movie a while ago. Probably what big anime fans feel when Devin talks about never doing animation. This is one that deserves the recognition so if at all possible, I would love it if Amy gave it another shot.
It IS slower than shit, tho...
This would be a real treat. I liked the film, but nonetheless felt kinda cold. I don't go for outlaw stories, and this movie felt extra-slow, extra-epiccy, but I'm betting there's a TON of meat to it, and that Devin and Amy would have a lot to bring to such an episode. Also, perfect excuse for a rewatch!
@JohnMMMM I think they'll keep it civil. I bet Amy likes it more upon re-watch!
I'm all for this, if only to see what'll happen in the recording booth. grabs popcorn
I love this movie, hope they tackle it someday.
@evandickson8 Added both films to my post where I'm making a huge list of canon worthy films ;)
Then let's do it, AMY! SS7, I love Chopper but Jesse James is far superior. Some similar themes, the JJ is gorgeous. Emotional. And not that long!
I'd rather have CHOPPER included in the canon. It's another Andrew Dominik film about criminals and how their celebrity effects them, but its five hours shorter and a lot more engaging, imo.
DAMMIT EVAN.
Although....I am on a resurging Casey Affleck kick.
Those are my 3 favorite movies of that year. Assassination is number one for me. I love this movie.
I've been bugging Devin and Amy (who is perhaps rightfully annoyed with me at this point) about this for sometime, but this movie does deserve appraisal. Even though it flopped hard when it came out in 2007 I believe it stands toe-to-toe with NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and THERE WILL BE BLOOD in terms of quality. A lot of people talk about its insight into nascent celebrity culture but I think its just as powerful an examination of the qualities that make people attractive to others in addition to what kind of acts society is willing to tolerate. How neediness and being "thirsty" can relegate someone to a particular perception. How the perception if public figures is binary. Good. Or Bad. How a criminal can be a folk hero as long as he doesn't betray the narrative that has been projected upon him/her.
