Speaking of books about Cynthia Ann Parker, check out Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne. It also tells the story of the Texas/Comanche wars in general.
By the way, another great episode of The Canon. You always make me re-watch a movie that i thought i knew pretty well.

I'm somewhat baffled that Amy could like this film as much as she does while also having such a great distaste for Zero Dark Thirty. There are very strong parallels between the films. The idea of the protracted quest, a ruthless pursuit and rendering yourself null and void in the end. Just like Ethan, Maya is now without a purpose. Years have hardened her and made lead her to make morally dubious decisions and now what? Both characters are excellent stand-ins for America.
