Gotta for for Aliens over Alien here. And if Aliens wins, hopefully Amy will proclaim "Game over man, game over!"

In terms of which movie makes larger positive strides for women, I think Alien is the clear choice. In Alien, Ripley was right every step of the way. If the crew had listened to her, than none of the carnage would've ever taken place. Cameron (with Aliens) seems to be saying that the way to be a strong woman is to behave like a man (the Vasquez character), where the message in Alien had been "in order to be a strong woman, one must only be a woman; because women ARE stong."

Alien! Please, don't confuse my exclamation mark for an "s." Alien... singular... as in the best. No regrets.

In future, when they invite guests on the show, I think they should have a guest on each side of the argument. This episode seemed like everyone was ganging up on Amy Nicholson ... and she's just a blonde afterall.

Such a horrible recording of the live show! I could barely make out half of the things you guys were saying. Were you guys even miked? Sounds like someone just held up a recoding device in the air and that's the podcast.

Alien is definitely the better film. One super xenomorph trumps a mob of weaker, killable ones. The same is true when comparing Predator and Predators - although I'd say both Alien and Aliens are better than any of the Predator movies.

They are really 2 completely different movies. But "Alien" is timeless, and belongs in the Canon. It's a top 10 movie.

There's something about the fact that it came out at the very end of the 70's -- acting as a bookend with the trippy "2001" and the spiritual optimism of "Star Wars". "Alien" goes somewhere else with sic-fi ideas, and leads us into the darkness of the 80's.

I love the podcast, and look forward to each new episode. I do agree with some of the other comments -- the quality of the live recording made it very difficult to hear.

While I do enjoy the hell out of Aliens, I believe that Alien is the better movie of the two.
Alien does a great job of setting its movie in the vastness of space, while at the same time making the audience feel very claustrophobic - which goes with the tagline for the film, "In space no one can hear you scream." Also, Alien has Harry Dean Stanton...and any movie that has Harry Dean Stanton deserves to be in The Canon.

I'm sorry, but this episode sounds like multiple guys who don't know much about Aliens vs. a girl who knows about both films. You don't know why Ripley was sent back?? They state the reason in the fucking tense infirmary scene - They are to be impregnated by facehuggers. Jesus christ, it's kind of a critical scene.
