Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

This week Devin Faraci and Amy Nicholson debate whether or not Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a seminal motion picture in Hollywood history that belongs in the canon. Can Devin’s argument that the movie is made for 3rd grade boys change Amy’s mind on the racism and misogyny? Does this movie make Crystal Skull look much better? Is Short Round Indy’s friend or child slave? Tune in for the battle -- and head to the forums to cast the deciding vote! Plus, we’ll find out if Goodfellas made it into the canon.

I got to vote a no on this just too many, problems with the racism, just put in Temple of Doom instead.

Nay, but god do I like the ballsy fun of this movie. A great pleasure if you were a dumb kid with that hyperactive (and sometimes truly messed up) imagination Spielberg conjures here, but there's just way too much baggage. Good discussion!

A big NO for ToD. Great action set pieces here and there and the pacing is great but the characters and plot are poorly conceived. It isn't even the second best Indy film.

You two are great. So enjoyable. Um... I'm a no on Temple of Doom.

Ok... if the "second best" movie, in your opinion, is not worthy of being in the canon, that means none of them are, and only Raiders is canon... a canon of one? Your criteria is out of whack. Enjoyable discussion, though.

No on Doom. I love it, but it doesn't deserve to be up there with Raders, Godfather, and all the other greats

No to ToD. Yes to mugs. I have a huge mug collection, but as Devin puts it "I could have more mugs."

I hope this isn't going to be Devin likes geeky cult things and Amy does not whatsoever every week. I like it, just don't go that route every week. Give us some ones where you'd think Devin would like it but he doesn't. ToD is the 3rd best Indy film, but it's still pretty damn good.
